Tyler Perry has done a lot of movies and none seem to have gotten Ghanaians debating than his new movie, Acrimony. Boris Kodjoe and Idris Elba are two top stars of Ghanaian descent and have both featured in his movies yet those movies were not a hit in Ghana.
Acrimony is an American Psychological movie which was released on March 30, 2018, Taraji P. Henson and Lyriq Bent are the main characters in the movie.
But how come a movie that was released four months ago just got everyone talking all of a sudden?
Well, someone in a tweet said, ‘It’s because it just became downloadable for us’.
And from what he said, I side with him as I never heard or saw any cinema in Ghana showing it.
The movie is about a woman called Melinda Moore (Taraji P. Henson) who met his dream man Robert Gayle (Lyriq Bent) a mechanical engineer student on a college campus. The pair started seeing each other again after the first meeting and started going on dates till they got married.
And mind you, something happened before they got married and even when they got married, well, it wasn’t what Melinda and Robert were both expecting.
In the end, one felt cheated and shot the other. And it is this part that has got people talking. The question everyone has been asking it ‘who should be blamed for what happened?’
If you want to know how everything started and end, find the time and watch it.
This movie did not end like the ones we have been seeing in Ghanaian and Nigerian movies. I am not a prophet but do not be surprised if either Ghana or Nigeria release their own version of Acrimony.
