The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II who is the Chairman of the Eminent Chiefs mediating longstanding Dagbon chieftaincy crises has put a ban the enskinment of new chiefs in the Dagbon traditional area, My New Gh reports.

The ban will be lifted after the funeral of Ya-Na Mahamudu Abdulai and Ya-Na Yakubu Andani are done.
The ban forms part of the roadmap which is expected to bring peace in Dagbon after over a decade of conflicts between the Abudu and Andani royal families.
“I am directed by His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, acting as the Chairman of Eminent Chiefs to formally notify you that, as part of the peace process, he has directed that from the commencement to the end of the funeral by both gates, there should be no enskinment in Yendi until after the selection of a new Yaa-Na,“ Kofi Boadu, the Chief of Staff for Asanteman indicated in a letter to the Northern Regional Minister, Salifu Saeed.
“It is the hope of the Committee of Eminent Chiefs that all concerned will fully cooperate to ensure the successful conclusion of the roadmap and to pave the way for the restoration of peace in Dagbon”, he added.
The ban will be lifted after the funeral of the two Ya-Nas are done and a new Ya-Na has been named.
