Robert Maraj, father of the famous singer Nicki Minaj, has reportedly passed away after being run over by car in the town of Mineola in New York.
The 38-year-old artist’s father was taken to a local hospital in critical condition but succumbed to his injuries.
As TMZ has reported, the 64-year-old was hit by a vehicle on Friday evening with the driver fleeing the accident scene.
According to the Nassau County Police, witnesses couldn’t spot the car’s licence plates and the Homicide Department is investigating the hit-and-run incident, which occurred between Roslyn Street and Raff Avenue.
Minaj, whose real name is Onika Tanya Maraj, is believed to have had a complicated relationship with her father and has yet to comment on the accident on social media.
The singer announced her retirement from the music industry in September 2019 to dedicate herself to her family and she gave birth to her first child last September.
