12-year old boy falls into a galamsey pit at Odumase

A 12-year old boy has died after falling into a galamsey pit at Odumase near Konongo in the Ashanti Region.

The unnamed young man was found in an uncovered pit and was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead and later taken to the hospital.

The unfortunate incident is not the first time someone has fallen into an uncovered galamsey pit.

According to reports, after the president placed a ban on illegal mining in the country, some of the illegal miners in the area left without covering the pits. As a result, it has led to a number of people falling into the pits.
