Nigeria: Few weeks after one Mr. Segun was killed by suspected ritualists, another such incident has occurred in Oghara town, Ethiope West Local Government Area of Delta State a 12- year- old school girl has also been killed.
Executive Chairman of Ethiope West local Government Council, Honourable Solomon Golley has condemned the killing of the innocent school girl while calling on security agencies to put an end to the devilish act of killing in Oghara’’.
The victim, whose name was given as Eguono, was discovered in the early hours of the day with the head neatly severed from her body in a compound close to Okwemeva junction along the Scott Road area in Ogharefe, Oghara.
The Council boss, in a statement signed by his Personal Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mr Freedom Omoniyi, expressed dismay at the rate of killings in Oghara in recent past, while appealing to the security agents to step up in their duties in order to put the menace of ritual killers in the bud.
He noted that Oghara, as headquarters of Ethoipe West Local Government Area of Delta State is home to former governor, Chief James Ibori with lot of security facilities in place will not condone such activities as the security agencies have been mobilized to go after the killers.
He promised to put an end to the evil act of harvesting human parts in the quest for quick money by young Nigerians, calling on the people of Ethiope West particularly residents of Oghara to be vigilant and be very prayerful for God to expose those behind the killing.
Honourable Solomon Golley commiserated with the family of the little girl over the untimely death while praying to God to grant them the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss.
Another source in the Council disclosed on condition of anonymity that the killers of Eguono would be smoked out in a matter of days as security efforts have been redoubled towards checking the menace.
As at the time of filing the reports, men of the Oghara Police division were already on ground to take the girl corpse away while efforts to trace the parents were not successful.
