Fourteen out of sixteen prostitutes have been jailed by an Accra District Court for soliciting, GNA reports.
The two women who were not jailed pleaded not guilty to the offence that was levelled against them while the others pleaded guilty and asked the court to forgive them as they will refrain from the act.
The laws of Ghana forbids prostitution and as a result, the fourteen women who pleaded guilty have been jailed for 3 months and also fined GHC 300.
The two women who pleaded not guilty have been granted a bail in the sum of GHC 5000.
Ten out of the sixteen women who appeared before the court are Nigerians, while five are from Ghana and one is from Liberia.
