Manchester United academy player Shola Shoretire, 14, made history Wednesday by becoming the youngest player to feature in a UEFA Youth League match.
The winger came on as a substitute with 15 minutes remaining as United produced a 2-1 victory over Valencia.
At 14 years and 314 days, Shoretire surpassed former record-holder Mile Svilar. Last season, Svilar, aged 18 years and 65 days, became the youngest goalkeeper to appear in a Champions League match when he featured for Benfica and stopped a penalty against United
Although Shoretire has trained with England at the youth level, he is still eligible to represent Nigeria at the international level.
Along with Shoretire, Harvey Neville, the son of former United midfielder and current England women’s manager Phil Neville, also made his debut for Nicky Butt’s Under-19 team on Wednesday.
