Sad news from Tarkwa in the Western Region indicates 17 school children have died in a gory accident.
The school children, whose ages were between 2 and 10 years died when the school bus they were in crashed with a tipper truck while on their way home from school.
According to eyewitnesses, the driver of the bus was driving at a high speed when the incident happened.
Also, reports also indicate the owner of the school collapsed after hearing about the accident and has been rushed to the hospital for medical attention.
One teacher who was also in the bus died while the driver and another teacher survived the accident.
The number of students who were in Learner Bridge Academy’s bus was 33 and according to reports gathered by The Post, 15 students died at the spot and those who got injured were transferred to both Old and New Tarkwa Government Hospital from Wassa-Dompem’s Health Facility.
Taxi drivers in the area and bystanders helped to send the students to the hospital and it was at the hospital that 2 other students died.
Parents and guardians were not allowed to see their children, however, some of them were informed about the status of their children after they trooped to the hospital’s premises.
The driver of the school bus is currently assisting the police in their investigations.
