Asante Kotoko’s chances of winning the Ghana Premier League took a hit with a 2-0 loss to Medeama SC on Sunday evening at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.
Kotoko needed to win to move back into the top four of the league table, but they were outmatched by a determined Medeama side. Jonathan Sowah scored a stunning goal in the 15th minute to give the visitors the lead, and Kotoko struggled to break through the Medeama defence.
In the second half, Kotoko kept pushing for an equalizer, but Medeama caught them on the counter-attack and Vincent Atingah converted a penalty in the 78th minute.
Despite their best efforts, Kotoko could not score, and Medeama secured a valuable victory. As a result, Kotoko now sit in seventh place in the league table, six points behind Aduana Stars, while Medeama have climbed to fourth place, just three points behind the leaders, and have boosted their own title aspirations with this impressive win.
