The police in Agogo in the Ashanti Region have arrested 37 students of Agogo State College.
The police made the arrest after the students embarked on a demonstration on the school campus and ended up destroying some of the school’s properties.
Before the students embarked on the demonstration, they complained to the school authorities about the lack of water supply and electricity.
According to the students, the authorities of the school have refused to find a solution to their complaints and that is the reason why they embarked on the demonstration as it is the only way they can let the authorities know how serious they are.
Of the 37 students who were arrested, 33 were girls and 4 were boys. Some of the parents of the students came and the students were freed. However, those whose parents could not go to the police station were handed over to the school authorities.
The police have indicated they are investigating the matter and any student involved in the destruction of the school’s properties will be arraigned before a juvenile court.
The school has since been closed down and the students have been told to return on Saturday at 4 pm.
