A 46-year-old man, identified as Anthony and a driver at Konongo, and his 48-year old wife called Adwoa Serwaa last Thursday tried to sell Anthony’s son at Petransa at Asante Akyem in the Ashanti region.
The incident happened when Adwoa Serwaa told a friend of hers her husband, Anthony wants to sell his child.
Adwoa Serwaa’s friend, who was confused told someone who agreed to buy the child for GHC 40,000.00.
Last Thursday, Adwoa Serwaa’s friend and the buyer went to Adwoa Serwaa’s house with an initial deposit of GHC 5,000.00 in cash and a cheque of GHC 35,000.00.
With two policemen and a CID hiding behind the house, Adwoa Serwaa and Anthony agreed to accept the GHC 5,000.00.
Anthony told his wife to collect the money while he joins them later.
The policemen and the CID popped up when Adwoa Serwaa was collecting the money.
Anthony upon seeing his wife was being handcuffed took to his heels and has not been seen since.
The police are on the hunt for Anthony while his child has been sent to the biological mother in Accra.
