5 Chinese men remanded for mining gold illegally

Five Chinese men have been remanded for mining gold illegally at Amansia Central in the Ashanti Region.

The five Chinese men were arrested by the Forestry Commission after they got a tip-off and arrested them on Saturday at Oda Forest Reserve.
They were arraigned before Bekwai Circuit Court and Deputy Chief Inspector Ofori told the court the five men do not have any permit and were also mining the gold illegally.

The Judge reminded the Chinese men and has asked the police to do further investigation and appear before the court on 13 August 2013.
