Ghanaians have a mindset that is hard to understand. It is sometimes funny why Ghanaians think that way but that has been the norm and there no sign of it ending now.
In Ghana, when a person is rich, people start to think you made the money illegally especially if you are not educated.
When a woman is rich or heads a big organization, people do not believe or think she made it through her own effort.
Although some people made it through this means it is not always true.
Here is a list of the weirdest things Ghanaians think about who are successful and why some old women are poor.
1. Female CEO
In Ghana, when a woman heads an organization then there is only one way she used to get there. And that is she had sex with someone before she got the position. This mindset is so strong that to the extent that when the former boss of the Electoral Commission, Charlotte Osei was appointed, Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong said she had sex with the then President John Mahama before she got the position.
2. A rich young man
As if this is not sad, in Ghana, when a young man below the age of 30 starts making huge money then there is only one way he made in the life. And that is through “Sakawa”. Sakawa used to be a term for internet fraud but now it is also used to refer to people who go in for ‘blood money’.
While in advanced countries young men below the age of 30 are making it big, in Ghana it is not ‘accepted’. Unless you used illegal means.
3. A rich young woman
Kylie Jenner has been named as the youngest self-made millionaire with a net worth of $900 million of all time and is expected to become the youngest self-made billionaire in history. Although she is from a rich family, it is believed she made it through her own effort. Now let us come to Ghana. Should a girl who is of the same age as Kylie become successful, then it means she has been having sex with married men or fraud boys to make money.

4. A rich man above the age of 40
When a lawyer, doctor, engineer or lecturer is rich then it means the person made it through genuine means. However, when the person is a businessman, then it means he is a cocaine dealer. That’s why people keep saying businessmen Osei Kwame and Kennedy Agyapong are cocaine dealers.

5. A good footballer
This is one of the funniest things some Ghanaians think about people who are successful in their fields. When a footballer is good, some people believe training alone cannot make you a good player. Such people think people like Messi, Ronaldo and other great footballers are good at what they do because they use ‘black magic’ Some of those people believe a player like Messi can call the ball.
