The Brong Ahafo Regional Security Council is investigating seven people in the region for stealing some fertilizers from a depots in Sunyani Municipality.
Speaking to Angel FM in Kumasi, the Regional Minister for Brong Ahafo, Kwaku Asomah Cheremeh, said the Regional Security Council had a meeting about two weeks ago and it was during that the meeting that they asked about the missing fertilizers from the Regional Director of Ministry of Food and Agriculture.
The Director, the minister said, told them he has heard about it too.
In another meeting at the Regional Minister’s residence, the same issue was discussed.
Later, the minister said they got a letter from the Director of Ministry of Food and Agriculture stating that it is true that some fertilizers have gone missing.
“We called and interrogated people who were involved in the issue including one woman who had just given birth”.
“We called all of them again and told them to go to the police and write their statement at the police station”.
“The issue is with the BNI so after their investigations we will know what happened”.
According to the Regional Minister, during the interrogations, the suspects were not clear in their statements describing their story as “meek”.
According to reports, the amount of the missing fertilizers is around ¢600, 000 and they were meant to support planting for food and jobs in the region.
