The Referee Association of Ghana has suspended 74 referees after they appeared in Anas Amereyaw Anas’ documentary about corruption in Ghana football.
Two months after the video was premiered in Accra on 6 June 2018, lots of actions have been taken by the government of Ghana to make sure they clean the system before they continue or restart the league again.
In the video, some referees were seen taking bribes to officiate football matches with the notable one being the game between Kumasi Asante Kotoko vs Accra Hearts of Oak in Kumasi.
Anas’ men before the match bribed the referee and his assistants to favour Hearts and the referee did just that to ensure Hearts win the game.
The Referee Association of Ghana was given the full video by Anas and after watching it, a statement has been released by the Association naming 74 players they have suspended.
Below is the Press Release by the Referee Association of Ghana.
