The PRO of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Kennedy Boakye Ansah has said he the decision by the club to strip their CEO, George Amoako has got nothing to do with what he has done but rather an “internal decision” by the management.
Ansah did not confirm the report that their CEO has planned not to vote for George Afriyie, their preferred candidate. According to him, the decision was taken after “careful consideration of a few issues.”
“Uncle George has not done anything wrong,” he said, adding that the club only decided to let another person [Isaac Donkor] take his position.
“It was Uncle George who publicly declared Kotoko’s support for George Afriyie in Sunyani,” he added.
Ansah in another interview on Kessben FM said they do not feel they have disgraced their CEO, though it has been reported that “he is very sad” with the action the club has taken.
Ansah also said he does not believe the action by the club will affect Amoako’s quest to become an Executive member in the upcoming GFA election.
He, however, emphasized that the club will “offer him whatever support” they can give him [in the Executive Committee elections].
