Bernard Don Bortey has tipped his new club, Accra Great Olympics to win the 2019/2020 Ghanaian Premier League.
The 37-year old who at his peak could do anything he wants with the ball still believes he has what it takes to play at the top and still do what he did with Accra Hearts of Oak to help Olympics win the league.
Football “is not about strength”, he said on Ash FM in Kumasi and added, “God gave him his talent.”
“Nothing has changed, I am going to do what I did in the past.”
“Football is about break and pass and the knowledge I have in football far exceeds those playing in the Ghanaian league now.”
“There is no black magic in football, training is all you need to do to play well,” he said.
On winning the league, Don Bortey said he is “not afraid” to say that Olympics will win the league.
“People are saying Olympics has signed old players but no one should be surprised when Olympics win the league or is leading the league table.”
“No matter what it is Olympics will place well on the league table,” he said, “we are preparing for Africa,” he added.
He called the new Olympics team the 64 Battalions, a name which was given to the Hearts of Oak squad that conquered Ghana and Africa in early 2000 which he, Don Bortey was an integral member.
