Olympique Lyon star Memphis Depay has tweeted a photo of Kumasi Asante Kotoko players celebrating their winning goal against Hearts of Oak alongside three other photos.
The Ghanaian-Dutch footballer did not tweet the photo to show his love for the Porcupine Warriors but rather to show Naby Keita’s celebration.
Depay puts his index fingers in his ears whenever he scores and it is that celebration that Keita and all those in the photos he tweeted were doing.
Depay has in an interview explained why he celebrates his goals that way.
The former Manchester United winger said he is “a Christian and it is a way to thank God and a way to show I became blind and deaf to the world to people’s opinion.”
The celebration, he added, means he does not know good or bad but he knows he’s always going to be good when he starts reading the bible and pray.
“It’s a deep powerful meaning to me,” he said,” they think it is a little bit strange but for me, this is the way I live my life.”
