Asokwa Deportivo has knocked Kumasi Asante Kotoko out of the FA Cup after beating them 2-1 at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium.
The Division One club came from behind to beat the Porcupine Warriors in a game most people were expecting Kotoko to win easily.
Deportivo goalkeeper, Samuel Otoo came to the rescue of his side with a great save to deny William Opoku the chance to put his side in the lead.
Richard Arthur pounced on a loose ball to put Kotoko in the lead in the 33rd minute after William Opoku’s attempt failed.
In the 45th minute, Deportivo got the equalizer through Godfred Abban’s header.
Deportivo needed just 20 minutes to take the lead in the second half.
A rebound fell in front of Ransford Owusu Frimpong just outside the penalty box and he made sure he put the ball at the back of the net.
Deportivo kept their calm and made sure they prevent the Porcupine Warriors from scoring.
The win has given Deportivo the revenge they have been waiting for since losing to Kotoko 3-2 in 2011 and that was the last time a Premier League eliminated them from the 64th round of the FA Cup.
Kotoko’s elimination means that there will be a new champion as Kotoko could not defend their trophy.
