The Parliamentary Candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for Cape Coast North, Kwamina Minta Nyarku, is now set to contest his main contender, the New Patriotic Party’s Barbara Asher Ayisi.
After weeks of queries from the Electoral Commission for providing wrong information during the registration exercise, the NDC parliamentary aspirant, also known as Ragga, has today been issued a new card by the EC.
Dr. Kwamena Minta Nyarku registered on 1st October in accordance with a High Court ruling but was again challenged.
At the end of deliberations by the ECs Registration Review Committee on the challenge, five members, as against two, voted in favour of Dr Kwamena Minta Nyarku.
He is however set to file his nominations as the NDC Parliamentary Candidate for Cape Coast North next week.
The NDC in the constituency welcomed the development with a statement saying:
“Our Parliamentary Candidate for the Cape Coast North Constituency, Dr Kwamena Minta Nyarku (Ragga) registered on 1st October in accordance with the High Court ruling but the desperate NPP MP and her assigns again challenged him but at the ECs Registration Review Committee after their deliberation on the challenge today, has voted 5:2 in favour of Dr Kwamena Minta Nyarku who is set to file his nominations as the NDC PC for CCN next week. Now, NPPs Barbara Assher should start packing because Ragga is the next MP of CCN.”
