Kumasi Asante Kotoko has received a positive reply from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) after reporting Al Hilal for tampering with their Covid-19 test result.
Kotoko was eliminated from the CAF Champions League after eight of their players and four of their management members tested positive for Covid-19 an hour to the start of their match with the Sudanese club last Wednesday.
While CAF made a tweet to confirm that Kotoko has been eliminated from the competition, Asante Kotoko’s Acting Communications Director, David Nyarko in an interview with Oyerepa FM said CAF has said they have referred their case to their Competition Department.

The Competition Department, The Post understands, responds to cases earlier, therefore, Kotoko would get their response soon.
He added that CAF in their reply said they announced their elimination from the competition base on the Match Commissioners’ report.
The Match Commissioner, according to reports, wrote to CAF that Kotoko could not raise a team due to the number of players who tested positive for the virus.
Nyarko also emphasized that they have not ruled out reporting their case to the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) if they CAF does not rule in their favour as they want people to know that Kotoko is a big club, therefore, they would not allow others to cheat them.
