Asante Kotoko has moved to the top of the Ghanaian Premier League after beating Berekum Chelsea 2-0 at the Len Clay Stadium.
Kotoko scored the first goal through Andy Kumi in the first half with the assist from Augustine Okrah in the 29th minute.

Chelsea were not ready to give up the fight and in the 47th they were awarded a penalty after Stephen Amankona was brought down by Samuel Frimpong.
Amankona who wanted to take the penalty was told to get off the pitch by the referee as medics were called when he was brought down. Bright Amponsah stepped forward to take the penalty but his kick went over the bar. The penalty should have been taken again as Kotoko goalkeeper, Razak Abalora was off the line, however, the referee did not see that.
Chelsea kept pushing after the missed penalty but Kotoko’s defensive wall was too strong to penetrate.
Kotoko had to bring on Patrick Asmah after Ibrahim Imoro got injured.
Godfred Asiamah who came on for Emmanuel Gyamfi in the 69th scored the second goal by dribbling the goalkeeper in the 94th minute.

The 2-0 win moved Kotoko from the third position on the league table to the first position as Great Olympics lost to Legon Cities by two goals at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Karela who were also second on the league table dropped to the third position after also losing to Inter Allies. Kotoko will play Great Olympics next at the Accra Sports Stadium on April 16.
