Pressure group Economic Fighters League has indicated that they will go on demonstration today in the capital Accra.
The demonstration, according to Ernesto Yeboah, is to demand jobs for the youth.
“We create jobs for the politicians by voting for them,” he said.
Meanwhile, after voting for them, “they start telling us Ananse story.”
“The politicians always tell us they have created jobs” yet we do not see anything, he explained.
The demonstration will start from Kwame Nkrumah Circle and the demonstrators are to register before they embark on the demonstration.
Unemployment is a major challenge in Ghana as more young people are struggling to get jobs.
Moreover, the recent collapse of banks in the country has also led to a drastic increase in the number of unemployed people in the country.
However, the government’s Nation’s Builders Corp has been seen as a lifesaver and is expected to employ 100, 000 people for a period of 3 years.
The President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa during the launch of the Nation’s Builders Corp program indicated that a research conducted revealed majority of people who graduate from Ghana’s tertiary institutions get jobs five years or more after completing school.
But, some unemployed Ghanaians have lost hope in the policy as they do not know if they are going to be selected or not due to the delays in the starting date of the program.
