Asante Kotoko fans were not be happy after their arch-rivals overtook them on the league table to win the league last season.
Hearts started the season poorly but things changed for them when they signed Samuel Boadu from Medeama during the season. His appointment brought new energy to the club and they went on to beat Kotoko 1-0 at the Accra Sports Stadium with four games left to finish the league. Boadu also led the Phobians to lift the FA Cup as well.
However, things would have been different if Boadu had signed for Hearts of Oak’s arch-rivals Kumasi Asante Kotoko.
Before Boadu signed for Hearts, he had already agreed terms with Kotoko and was expected to sign a contract with the Porcupine Warriors after the sacking of Maxwell Konadu. Konadu was sacked after matchday four in which he won one, drew two and lost one.

After his sacking, Boadu reached a verbal agreement with a board member of Kotoko after the two held talks.
Unfortunately, Boadu could not seal a dream move to Kotoko after it was rejected by the club as they were interested in a foreign coach.
Kotoko appointed Portuguese coach Mariano Barreto as the coach and after failing to win the league, he was sacked.

Since becoming the coach of Hearts of Oak, Boadu has played three games against Kotoko, won two and drawn one.
