Barcelona, yesterday did not waste the opportunity to put more pressure on their archrivals Real Madrid to sack their boss Julen Lopetegui Argote.
This is the first El Classico without Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. With Messi injured with an injury and Ronaldo now plying his trade with Juventus, there was little to talk about as these two players have always headlined the game for the past years.
Winter singing Phillipe Coutinho opened the scoring in the 11th minute after Jordi Alba’s pass got to him in Madrid’s 18-yard box. With Courtois not in the post, Coutinho easily placed the ball into the net to give his side the lead.
In the 30th minute, Suarez scored his first goal of the day through a penalty after he was brought down by Varane.
Real Madrid seems to be missing the service of Ronaldo as they struggled to even scare the Catalan giants.
Five minutes into the second half, Marcelo pulled one back for the European Champions.
Suarez was on top form as in the 75th minute, he scored one of the best goals of the day with a great header from a Sergio Roberto cross.
Barcelona was not done and Suarez also had a goal more on his feet. Eight minutes after scoring his second goal, the former Liverpool striker chipped the ball over Courtois to make it 4-1.
Arturo Vidal made it 5 two minutes after Suarez scored his hat trick. Dembele was instrumental in the goal as his cross found Vidal unmarked and he also made sure he send Courtois the wrong way.
Madrid’s performance under new coach Lopetegui has not been the best. For some weeks now, pressure has been on the coach to produce the magic he did with the Spanish national team but nothing seems to work for him.
