Ghana Premier League champions, Kumasi Asante Kotoko is seriously considering the idea of playing the remaining home matches of the league during the evening hours. The club has faced a major challenge in attracting a considerable number of fans to its daytime games, which has been a concern for the management.
However, the club has realized that a significantly higher number of supporters attend their games during the evening, compared to daytime games.
This realization was highlighted in a recent report by Oyerepa Radio, which stated that the club sold 3,450 tickets and generated GH₵40,730 from ticket sales during its game against Accra Lions last Monday. This outcome was achieved in an evening game, which further strengthens the club’s belief in playing future home matches during the evening.
However, playing evening games may come with additional costs for the club, as it would need to spend GH₵6,000 on fuel to power the generators at the stadium.
While this may come with additional expenses, the club believes that it would be worth it in the long run. The final decision would ultimately be made in consultation with the Ghana Football Association (GFA).
