Asante Kotoko has announced the signing of former Hearts of Oak defender, Mohammed Alhassan, on a free transfer. The signing was confirmed by the defending league champions on Wednesday, February 9, 2023.
Alhassan joins Kotoko after his contract with Hearts of Oak was terminated by mutual agreement. He is expected to add strength to the backline of the Porcupine Warriors and aid their quest to reclaim the Ghana Premier League title.

The 30-year-old defender first made his Premier League debut for West Africa Soccer Academy (WAFA) in a match against Kotoko, which ended in a 2-0 victory for the Sogakope-based side. He then went on to join Hearts of Oak in 2018, where he made over 90 appearances for the club.
In 2019, Alhassan was called up to the Black Stars and made his debut in a 1-0 friendly defeat against Namibia. Throughout his time at Hearts of Oak, the towering defender won several titles, including the Ghana Premier League, FA Cup, President’s Cup, and Super Cup.
