A 40-year-old man named Kwame Essel has lost his life after being beaten for allegedly stealing plantains from a farm at Ajumako Bisease in the Ajumako Enyan Essiam District. The incident took place on Sunday, February 12, 2023.
According to reports gathered by Kasapa News’ Yaw Boagyan, the suspect was known for his history of theft and was caught red-handed in the act of stealing plantains. However, his accomplice managed to escape when the owner of the farm approached them.
The stolen plantains were initially meant to be sold to a buyer, however, the transaction was rejected as the suspect was unable to provide the source of the plantains. He then sold the plantains to some strangers who were in town for a funeral.
Later in the day, around 4:30 pm, the suspect returned to the same farm in an attempt to steal again but was unfortunately caught. He was then subjected to a public beating, made to carry the stolen plantains on his head and paraded through the main street of Ajumako Bisease.
This tragic incident highlights the need for proper enforcement of laws and justice in the society to prevent such occurrences from happening. The authorities have been informed and investigations are underway.
