Evans Wireko, a 22-year-old high school graduate, was recently stoned to death by unknown persons at a galamsey site in Fobinso, near Denkyira Obuasi (now New Obuasi) in the Upper Denkyira West District of the Central Region. Another person was also injured in the attack and is currently in critical condition at the Dunkwa Ayamfuri Government Hospital.
According to reports from Kasapa News’ Yaw Boagyan, the deceased, who resided in Denkyira Ayanfuri, had accompanied a friend to the mining site in Fobinso for illegal mining activities. While the two were working at the site, they were suddenly attacked with stones and sticks, resulting in Wireko’s death. The other person managed to escape.
The body of Evans Wireko has been deposited at the Dunkwa On-Offin government hospital, while the police have launched an investigation into the incident.
