According to recent reports from Graphic Sports, Richard Kingson, former Ghanaian football international, is at risk of losing his job as the Black Stars goalkeepers’ trainer. This is due to the new Black Stars coach, Chris Hughton, making changes to the technical team, which could include bringing in a new goalkeepers’ trainer and video analyst.
The Ghana Football Association hierarchy held a meeting to finalize the proposed changes, which could potentially result in Kingson and Awal Kamin, the video analyst, losing their jobs. An undisclosed source suggests that Hughton, having been with the team for almost a year as technical advisor, may have analyzed the technical team and identified its inadequacies, leading to his recommendations to strengthen the technical department as he takes over.
Ameenu Shadow, General Manager of Dreams FC, is reportedly in line to replace Henry Mantey as the new Team Manager of the Black Stars, according to the same source.
GFA Communications Director Henry Asante Twum confirmed that Hughton has made recommendations but declined to comment further on the reported changes to the technical team. Twum stated that he is aware of the recommendations but could not provide any additional information until Hughton is unveiled as the new coach.
Chris Hughton is expected to be unveiled on March 20 in Kumasi, ahead of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Angola. The first game will take place at the Baba Yara Stadium on March 23, with the return leg in Luanda four days later.
