Residents of Nsane, a small town near Ayaase in the Assin South District of the Central Region, are reeling in shock and fear following the brutal murder of a 15-year-old school girl. The victim, Priscila Ataa Botwey, also known as Atta Kakra, was found stripped naked and decapitated in a bush on the outskirts of the town. Her body was in a state of decomposition, and her attire was covering the area where her head was chopped off, which was found a few meters away from her body.
Atta Kakra, a Junior High School 1 pupil at Assin Jakai Basic School, lived with her grandparents in the same town and was five months pregnant at the time of her murder. On March 8th, 2023, witnesses saw her arguing with her boyfriend, Nana Yaw, a taxi driver stationed at Abura Dunkwa, over the pregnancy. After that, the couple disappeared, and no one saw them until March 12th, 2023, when Atta Kakra’s body was found in the bush.
Atta Kakra’s grandfather, Joseph Yankson, had earlier reported her missing to the Nyankomase Ahenkuro police command. However, it was a farmer named Kojo Boadi who discovered her body when he noticed flies hovering around a particular location in the bush. Upon closer inspection, he found Atta Kakra’s decapitated body lying on the ground. He then accompanied Yankson to the crime scene, where they confirmed that the victim was his granddaughter.
A team of police officers from Nyankomase Ahenkuro, led by Detective Lance Corporal Nii Armah Ashitey, visited the crime scene and transported the victim’s body to the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital morgue. The police have started an investigation into the murder and have launched a manhunt for Nana Yaw, who is currently on the run.
The gruesome murder of Atta Kakra has shocked the residents of Nsane, and they are calling on the police to apprehend the perpetrator of this heinous crime. They hope that justice will be served, and the culprit will be brought to book as soon as possible.
