A 28-year-old man has been lynched in Adiembra, a town located in the Adansi Asokwa District of the Ashanti region, following accusations of kidnapping two children. Isaac Bans, a welder and described as a calm person by a relative, was playing with some children when he was attacked on Saturday, according to the relative Eric Addo.
Adom News’ Isaac K. Normanyo narrated the sequence of events, stating that the mother of the children accused Isaac Bans of being a thief when she saw him with her children. Upon hearing the mother’s cries for help, people in the neighborhood started assaulting him. The attackers used blades and other sharp objects to inflict wounds on the deceased.
Isaac Bans was subsequently dragged to a nearby mechanic shop where his attackers poured dirty oil into his nose until he was rendered unconscious. The police have arrested 10 people, including the group’s leader, Solonko, and a woman, in connection with the incident.
The lynching of individuals, while illegal, remains a prevalent occurrence in Ghana, with mob justice often taking the place of proper legal procedures. This case highlights the urgent need for authorities to address this issue and ensure that justice is served through the proper channels.
