A 26-year-old farmer has been sentenced to 20 years imprisonment by an Accra Circuit Court for sexually abusing a six-year-old girl at Agbogbloshie in Accra. Joshua Boyoor was found guilty of defilement after the trial presided over by Christina Cann.
According to Chief Inspector Simon Tekpor who led the prosecution, the victim was the daughter of a 37-year-old petty trader residing at Dansoman–Agege in Accra, and the accused person, who now stands convicted, also resided at Agbogbloshie.
On September 9, 2022, at about 7:30 pm, the victim went to play with her friends where Boyoor lived. The accused lured the victim into his room, undressed her and had sex with her. After the act, he warned the victim not to tell her parents.
When the victim returned home, her parents noticed that she was not walking properly and she informed them that Boyoor had sexually abused her. The complainant reported the incident to the Domestic Violence and Victim’s Support Unit in the Greater Accra Region, where they were given a Police medical form for examination and treatment. The medical report was submitted and Boyoor was subsequently arrested.
