Former Kotoko and King Faisal player, Yusif Chibsah has shared a fascinating story about how football administrator Alhaji Grusah uncovered a bribery attempt by a Hearts of Oak official involving players.
Chibsah disclosed that during a match between King Faisal and Hearts of Oak, rumors began to spread regarding certain players being approached with bribes to intentionally lose the game.

According to Chibsah, Alhaji Grusah took decisive action by reaching out to one of the players implicated in the alleged bribery scheme.
Together, they used a public telephone booth to place a call to an official from Hearts of Oak.
During the conversation, Alhaji Grusah instructed the player to inform the Hearts of Oak official that he had not yet received his share of the bribe money.
“Alhaji called one of the players and accompanied the player to a stationary phone booth. They dialed the number of a Hearts of Oak official and instructed the player to tell the person that he hadn’t received his portion of the money that was supposed to be shared among the players,” Chibsah revealed to Joy Sports.
To their astonishment, the official on the other end of the line directed the player to meet a specific individual to collect his share of the money.
“In that moment, the official unintentionally incriminated himself by saying, ‘Go and see this person.’ That’s when Alhaji Grusah referred to him as the ‘mafia chairman’,” Chibsah explained.
This revelation confirmed Alhaji Grusah’s suspicions, leading Chibsah to commend him as the “mafia chairman” for his astute investigative tactics.
Chibsah further added that regardless of Alhaji Grusah’s lack of formal education, his intelligence and sharp mind would have made him one of the finest administrators in football if he had received a higher education.
