Ransford-Yeboah Konigsdorffer, the forward from Hamburg, has been selected by Black Stars Head Coach Chris Hughton as a replacement for the injured Inaki Williams in the upcoming African Cup of Nations (AFCON) Group E qualifier against Madagascar.
According to a statement released on Monday, June 5, 2023, via social media, it was confirmed that Inaki Williams, the Athletic Bilbao forward, had suffered an injury to his right knee, which ruled him out of the crucial game. The statement mentioned that Williams had been playing with this condition in recent weeks and needed treatment to ensure his readiness for the next season.
Despite his injury setback, Inaki Williams reiterated his commitment to the national team and expressed his eagerness to return to action and represent his country when called upon by the manager.
In the absence of Williams, Ransford-Yeboah Konigsdorffer, the German-born Ghanaian forward from Hamburg, has been called up to join the team in Accra when they commence their training camp on June 12 ahead of the penultimate 2023 AFCON qualifier.
The Black Stars, currently sitting at the top of Group E with 8 points after four games in the qualifiers, will face the Bareas on June 18. A victory in this match will secure Ghana’s place in the 2023 AFCON, which will be hosted by Ivory Coast. The team remains determined to maintain their position and strive for success in the upcoming qualifier.
