Queens, New York – Residents of Queens, a suburb of New York City, were left stunned by the reported killing of a man by his teenage son, sending shockwaves through the local Ghanaian community.
Limited details are currently available about the incident, but it is believed that the man was fatally beaten during a domestic altercation at their home. The tragic event has left the community reeling with grief.
A video shared on Oman Channel’s YouTube platform captured the heart-wrenching scene as members of the Ghanaian community mourned the loss while authorities from the New York City Office of the Chief Medical Examiner removed the body.
Amidst tears and sorrow, one individual can be heard in the video saying, “That’s my brother being carried away. Noah, is that you? You have come to live abroad for so many years. May your soul rest in peace… God be with you,” expressing their profound sadness in the Akan language.
Another grieving Ghanaian woman, overcome with emotion, pleaded, “All I ask of you is for your spirit to deal with the person that did this to you.”
The incident occurred on June 12, 2023, in Queens, further deepening the sense of shock within the community.
This distressing event follows a recent incident in Columbus, Ohio, where a Ghanaian man tragically took his own life after shooting his wife. The man, identified as Michael Amoako, allegedly shot his 50-year-old wife after she reportedly threatened to leave him and return to Ghana to marry her former partner.
In a heartbreaking turn of events, the deceased left behind an audio recording, sharing his grievances and final wishes with his family. His wife, critically injured during the incident, is currently receiving intensive care.
These incidents have cast a somber mood over the Ghanaian community in both Queens and Columbus, prompting reflection and support as they come to terms with these devastating losses.
