In a proactive move to contribute to the resolution of the ongoing conflict in Bawku, the highly revered Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has extended an invitation to the feuding factions involved in the dispute. The objective is to facilitate constructive dialogue and find a lasting solution that can bring peace and stability to the troubled region.
During a courtesy visit by the Chieftaincy Minister, Stephen Asamoah Boateng, at the Manhyia Palace, the Asantehene expressed his willingness to assist in resolving the conflict. He emphasized his ongoing engagements with all the parties involved, listening to their concerns and gathering crucial information to inform the resolution process.
“I have been engaging all the feuding factions in relation to the Bawku conflict,” stated Otumfuo Osei Tutu II. “I have also been in discussions with key stakeholders, who have provided me with relevant documentation. By diligently examining the perspectives of all parties involved, we will be able to reach a definitive resolution. I have urged them to approach this matter with utmost sincerity and refrain from resorting to violence. I will extend an invitation to you, Chieftaincy Minister, to join the next meeting with them.”
In response, Minister Stephen Asamoah Boateng expressed gratitude for the Asantehene’s active involvement in the Bawku conflict. The government fully supports Otumfuo’s intervention, acknowledging his wisdom, knowledge, and capacity to bring the warring factions together. The minister affirmed that in some instances, they defer to the Asantehene’s leadership during the conflict resolution process, as he has garnered the trust and confidence of all parties involved.
