Former Black Stars midfielder, Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu, has expressed openness to a potential move back to his former club, Asante Kotoko if they present a favorable offer to him. Agyemang-Badu recently concluded his stint with Accra Great Olympics in the 2022/23 Ghana Premier League season and is currently a free agent.
In a conversation with Kumasi-based media, the former Ghana international clarified his contract situation, stating that his tenure with Great Olympics has ended, making him available for any team that meets his demands. Addressing the prospect of rejoining Kotoko, he urged the fans to be patient while Manhyia, the traditional authority governing Kotoko, completes the necessary administrative processes. Agyemang-Badu indicated that if the club presents him with an offer that meets his requirements, he would be willing to sign and reunite with them.
Asante Kotoko, the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League champions, are currently in the process of restructuring, having dissolved their entire board and management after the completion of their three-year mandate. However, before finalizing any player signings, the club needs to address its administrative issues and appoint a new coach.
Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu boasts an impressive footballing career, with one World Cup and three AFCON (African Cup of Nations) appearances to his credit. In 2021, he bid farewell to the national team, the Black Stars, to focus on club football. Throughout his international career, he made 78 appearances for Ghana, scoring 11 goals. Notably, he played a crucial role in Ghana’s U-20 African Championship victory, sealing the title with a decisive penalty kick in the U-20 World Cup final against Brazil.
After spending over a decade playing abroad, representing clubs like Udinese, Bursaspor, Verona, and Chinese club Qingdao, Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu returned to Ghana in 2022. Now, he stands ready for the next chapter of his football journey, eager to embrace new opportunities and contribute his skills and experience to a deserving team.
