Asante Kotoko has successfully secured the services of defensive midfielder Michael Kyei Dwamena from WAFA.
Dwamena’s transfer to the Porcupine Warriors was officially completed on a Sunday morning, following the successful completion of his mandatory medical examination the previous Saturday.
The highly-regarded midfielder has inked a three-year contract with Asante Kotoko, marking a reunion with head coach Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum.
Dwamena, who formerly captained WAFA, embarked on his football journey at WA Suntaa before spending three seasons at the Sogakope Arena.
During his time in the Ghana Premier League, he made 26 appearances spanning two seasons before the team faced relegation to Division One last season.
Dwamena is renowned for his multifaceted abilities on the field, which include an exceptional reading of the game, the ability to disrupt opponents’ attacks, and impressive passing distribution.
Expressing his enthusiasm about joining Asante Kotoko, he shared with Asante Kotoko media, “Playing for Asante Kotoko has always been part of my dream growing up. Moreover, the coach [Prosper Narteh Ogum] is someone I have worked with before, and his understanding of the game excites me a lot. I am confident that together, we can achieve something great here.”
It’s worth noting that Dwamena previously played under Dr. Ogum at WAFA during the 2020-21 campaign.
