The jersey numbers for the 27 players representing Ghana at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations have been officially released, providing insights into the lineup for the prestigious tournament.
The numbering starts with Richard Ofori at Number 1 and concludes with Jonathan Sowah at 27. Notable jersey assignments include Andre Ayew sporting his favorite number 10, Mohammed Kudus opting for the number 20 shirt, and Jordan Ayew wearing the number 9 jersey. Ashimeru will be donning the famous number 8 shirt, while Richmond Lamptey of Kumasi Asante Kotoko will be seen in jersey number 22.
The Black Stars are set to kick off their tournament on Sunday, January 14, 2024, facing Cape Verde before taking on Egypt four days later. Their Group B campaign will conclude against Mozambique on Monday, January 22, 2024.
In a bid to secure Ghana’s first AFCON trophy in over 40 years, head coach Chris Hughton has assembled a squad of 27 players, with training already underway in Kumasi. Richard Ofori, one of the three goalkeepers in the squad, and Crystal Palace forward Jordan Ayew have joined their teammates, bringing the total number in camp to 25.
West Ham forward Mohammed Kudus and Athletic Bilbao striker Inaki Williams are the two players yet to join the training camp. The Black Stars will conclude their preparations for the tournament with a friendly against Namibia on Monday, January 8, 2024.
