While some spent their New Year eve preparing their new year resolution, Floyd Mayweather was making money in Japan.
The undefeated world champion made $ 9 million in 139 seconds after knocking out Japan’s Tensin Nasukawa in round one.
Mayweather after the bout said he was still ‘retired’ and the fight was ‘all about entertainment’.
The 41-year old took on the 20-year old kickboxer at the Saitama Super Arena in Japan. Nasukawa is undefeated in all of his 28 official fights.
There were doubts about whether the fight was going to come on, however, when Mayweather appeared, he wasted no time.
Nasukawa, after the fight, was seen shedding tears.
Mayweather after the fight said that bout was not official and the win will not go on his or Nasukawa’s records.
“I’m still retired. I don’t look forward to coming back to boxing.
“This won’t go on my record. It won’t go on Tenshin’s record. Tenshin is still undefeated. I’m still undefeated.”
After defeating Andre Berto in September 2015, Mayweather came out of retirement to defeat UFC superstar, Connor McGregor.
Before his bout with Nasukawa, there were reports that Mayweather will come out of retirement to face the winner of Manny Pacquiao and Andrien Broner later this year.
But his comment after the bout has put an end to those speculations.
