Oti Region residents happy to gain independence from Volta Region

Residents of one of the newly created regions, Oti Regions are happy that they have finally gained independence from the Volta Region.

According to the residents, they have now seen the ‘light’ and are sure they will not see darkness again.

Last year, after the results of the referendum in the area, was announced, the residents lighted candles to indicate the light they are now seeing.

The residents believed their area will now see development as their resources will not be sent to the Volta Region again.

‘We are happy to be called Oti Region,’ one resident said.

The residents explained that they have the largest ginger farm, cocoa and other things but they do not benefit from it.

On Friday, 15 February, the President will present the Constitutional Instrument and name the capital for the new region.
