A perplexing thunder strike has left residents of Abansere, a farming community in the Berekum West District of the Bono Region, in a state of shock.
The inhabitants of the community expressed their astonishment and fear after witnessing an unprecedented lightning bolt that descended from the darkened skies and unleashed its fury upon a tree in their midst.
During the incident, a mother who was pounding fufu had the pestle forcefully taken from her and thrown several meters away. Unfortunately, her child, who was playing nearby, was struck by the thunder and remained speechless for nearly thirty minutes.
Recounting the terrifying ordeal, Karim Mbangwah, an opinion leader, described the event as surreal and frightening.
“I was fetching water with my children when the thunder struck. I must confess that some of us were so terrified that we had to take cover because we had never witnessed anything like it before. Many people ran for their lives, and although there were no casualties, the fear still lingers among us.”
Kofi Demo added his thoughts, suggesting that the thunder strike might have spiritual implications. He recalled that about a year ago, a fetish priest revealed that the tree which was struck served as a meeting place for witches in the community.
“The events in our community cannot be considered normal. In my opinion, it has a spiritual dimension because over a year ago, a fetish priest visited and disclosed that the tree struck by lightning was a gathering spot for witches in our community.”
He further explained that the tree has started to wither, giving him hope that such a peculiar incident will not occur again in their community.
“The tree has already begun to wither, so if the words of the fetish priest are true, we will not witness such an occurrence in our community again.”
