Ghanaians have took to social media to lambaste Black Stars coach Chris Hughton after the Black Stars chances of making it to the next round of the African Cup of Nations became slim after drawing with Mozambique.
The Black Stars gave away a 2-0 lead when they were a six minutes away from automatic qualification to the last 16.
Ghana scored the two goals from the penalty spot through Jordan Ayew in the 15th and 70th minute.
Mozambique also scored the first goal from the penalty spot in the after the ball hit Andre Ayew’s hand. minutes later, they scored a header from a corner after Ghana’s goalkeeper, Richard Ofori confusion gave them a corner.
Catamo also scored Mozambique’s first goal from the penalty spot in the 90th minute after the ball hit the hand of Andre Ayew who came on in the second half. Three minutes later, Mandava drew Mozambique level with a header after Ghana’s goalkeeper Richard Ofori’s blunder gave Mozambique a corner.
Speaking at the post game presser conference, Hughton who is yet to win a game with the national team outside Ghana said, “I take responsibility for this performance and admit my results with the Black Stars have not been good enough.”
The former Newcastle, Tottenham Hotspur and Brighton and Hove Albion coach’s tactics has not been the best since becoming the Black Stars coach and his substitutions in the tournament all made Ghana to concede goals.
Since becoming the head of the technical team, Hughton has lost to Mexico, Comoros, Cape Verde, USA and struggled to beat Madagascar 1-0 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
