The President, this afternoon attended the ongoing NPP congress at Koforidua Technical University.
The President in his speech talked about the things he and his government has achieved since assuming office on 7 January 2017.
He indicated he has increased the district assembly common fund, improved agriculture, put in place policies to support young entrepreneurs in the country, amongst other things.
‘Digitization and formalization of the economy are in full speed and all of these have been achieved in 18 months’.
He also went on to say that ‘Mahama’s government was bereft of’ the things he has achieved during his [Mahama] 4 years in office.
Also, the President posited that the voting of MCE’s and DCE’s will be held next year alongside that of the District Assembly elections.
Furthermore, he stated that all the allegations levelled against people in his government have been investigated by an independent body and have all been exonerated after investigations.
The Deputy Minister for Youth and Sports who was suspended for visa fraud has been exonerated by the independent body and as a result, will be called back to the office on Monday.
This he indicated will be his way to fight corruption in the country.
On mining, he said ‘Akufo-Addo cannot stop mining’ because ‘mining is an essential feature of our economic lives’.
‘What he can do and is trying to do is to put in place measures that will ensure what our grandfathers and ancestors’. This he said will save our land from degradation.
Moreover, he made it clear he has been to all West African countries except Guinea-Bissau to strengthen the countries relationship with our neighbouring countries as well as other countries outside West Africa.
The President attended the Congress a day after returning from his state visit to South Africa.
