Alan Kyerematen, a prominent contender in the NPP flagbearership race, has formally withdrawn from the competition. This decision comes just a day prior to the New Patriotic Party’s balloting for aspirants who are vying for the party’s flagbearer position in the November Congress, which seeks to select a successor to Nana Akufo Addo.
Alan has cited various reasons for his withdrawal, including the alleged intimidation of delegates during the recently held Super Delegates conference. This move confirms earlier reports that the former Trade Minister intended to step down, as indicated by the scheduling of a press conference.
The press conference was subsequently postponed, with an official press statement released a few minutes ago to confirm Alan’s decision. The immediate future plans of Alan remain uncertain, but there are unverified reports suggesting he might explore the possibility of running as an independent candidate in the upcoming 2024 General Elections.
During the Super Delegates Congress, Alan secured the third position, trailing behind Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia and Kennedy Agyapong.
