Ghanaian football legend, Asamaoah Gyan has revealed why he could not sign for Liverpool.
Gyan signed a four-year contract with Sunderland for a club record fee of £13 million but played for a year before his shock move to Al Ain.
In an interview on Sompa TV and FM, Gyan said before he moved to Al Ain in the Unite Arab Emirates from Sunderland, he was in talks with Liverpool and other clubs. Liverpool was in talks with Chelsea for the tranfer of Fernando Torress and he had to wait for the deal to go through.
However, before the deal could be finalised he got a call from Sunderland that they have accepted a bid from Al Ain for a year loan.
“I called my parents and siblings and we talked about it,” he said.
“I asked Sunderland about the contract they [Al Ain] has offered me.”
Gyan did not go into details as all the details about the failed move and everything about his life are in his book, LeGyandary.
