Kumasi Asante Kotoko will on Wednesday play Cameroon’s Eding Sport FC in the CAF Confederation game.
Kotoko, rejected a proposal from the Cameroonian FA after they proposed that the confederation match should be rescheduled as Kotoko’s opponent will be decided in their yet to be played FA Cup.
Reports indicate the Cameroonian FA had already talked to CAF before approaching Kotoko and had even registered the two clubs as Kotoko’s opponent.
However, the two Cameroonian FA Cup finalists, Eding FC and Lion Blesse FC agreed to let Eding Sport FC represent Cameroon in the CAF Confederation Cup.
While Kotoko has been preparing for months for this match, the club was also hoping to get an easy qualification after the final of Cameroon’s FA Cup has delayed.
The first game will be played on the 28 November 2018 at Baba Yara Sports Stadium and the return leg will be played a week later in Cameroon.
Had Asante Kotoko agreed to the proposal from the Cameroonian FA, both legs of the match could have been played in Ghana.
Now, the Porcupine Warriors have to prepare and hope to qualify to the next stage especially when the team has for the past few years struggled to get to the money zone of CAF competitions.
