The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has distooled the Chief of Asafo and head of Akwamu Division of the Kumasi Traditional Council, Acheamfour Kwame Akowuah II who was made the Chief of Asafo in 2009.

The decision to destool him was made after the Asantehene suspended him following the dissolve of the Asantehemaa’s court.
According to the report, the Asafohene was slapped with forty-five counts by his elders including the selling of lands illegally, wrongful enstoolment and destoolment of sub-chiefs, amongst other things. He was also accused of being “autocratic” in his reign which was against the customs and traditions of the Asante Kingdom.
Also, the Asantehene after giving his verdict also indicated he has destooled some of the sub-chiefs of Asafo.
Acheamfour Kwame Akowua II will now make an account of his time as the chief of Asafo and handover for a new chief to be enstooled.
