The regional derby between Kumasi Asante Kotoko and Obuasi Ashanti Gold has ended in a goalless draw.
Kotoko midfielder, Justice Blay fell ill minutes to the start of the game and he was replaced by Kingsley Effah.
Few chances were created in the first half of the game as both clubs played a defensive game.
Naby Keita got the first yellow card of the game for elbowing James Akaminko.
The only serious threat in the first half came in the 26th minute when Emmanuel Owusu’s 23-yard shot was saved by Kwame Baah.
Kotoko appeal for a penalty was denied after Kingsley Effah fell after a tackle for the Ash Gold goalkeeper, Frank Boateng.
Maxwell Konadu switched from the defensive game to an attacking game when he brought on Augustine Okrah before the start of the second half.
Imoro Ibrahim’s could have given the home side the lead but his overhead kick went over the bar.
In the 52nd minute, Ash Gold’s appeal for a penalty was also denied after Appiah MacCharty went down in Kotoko’s 18-yard box.
Opoku Mensah got the best chance of the game when he came one-on-one with the Frank Boateng but he missed the opportunity as his attempt to dribble the goalkeeper failed.
Konadu brought on Matthew Cudjoe and Richard Arthur later in the game but the two attackers could not do anything to change the scoreline.
Ashanti Gold and Kotoko are now leading the table with 18 points as Medeama, Berekum Chelsea and Aduana all lost their games.
